“Conflict Resolution Day 2010 Interactive Opportunities
Conflict Resolution Day, the third Thursday in October, is just around the corner. October 21, 2010 will be a day of celebration for conflict resolvers around the world working to promote the skills of constructive conflict management in all realms of social life.

CR Day Audio News Line
One of the easiest ways you can help spread awareness is to let others know what is happening in your area on or around Conflict Resolution Day. What kind of special activities are planned? Will you personally be doing something to honor the day? Can you sing conflict resolution-related songs? Want to read a poem for the world to hear? Phone it in! Contact our dedicated Conflict Resolution Day voicemail system and share your good news and creative works. The number is 1 (518) 21CRDAY (note how 21 matches October 21, this year’s date!). That number again is 1 (518) 212-7329. Audio from the calls will be posted within a day on the CR Day 2010 Audio News blog online athttp://conflictres.posterous.com We’ll be compiling a selection of clips into a podcast for later release.
Multimedia CRDay VoiceThread
Another way you can add your good energy to Conflict Resolution Day is to post comments to our CR Day VoiceThread found at http://snipurl.com/crdayvt If you are not familiar with VoiceThread, you might enjoy exploring one. A VoiceThread is a collaborative, multimedia slide show that holds images, documents, and videos and allows people to navigate slides and leave comments in 5 ways – using voice (with a mic or telephone), text, audio file, or video (via a webcam). On our brief VoiceThread you can leave a comment, read a few winning poems from last year’s poetry contest and indicate where on the world map where you are celebrating CR Day this year. Check it out. The more comments, the more interesting it will get. If you are a blogger or run a website, you can embed the VoiceThread on your site to help extend its reach. See the last slide for details.
Share CR Education Calendars with Educators
Another great way to get involved is to share the informative and colorful 2010 CR Education Teachers Calendar with educators and youth workers in your area. You can view the calendar online athttp://www.creducation.org/cre/teachers/calendar. By going to the ACR website (linked from the calendar page) you can use a web form to arrange to have a single calendar or a 5-pack sent to a school or youth serving organization near you. How cool is that?

Conflict Resolution Interactive “Games”

Finally, visitors to CREducation.org, the site I manage, can try out an interesting variety of short interactive “games” (word search, matching etc.) that relate to conflict resolution. Good for young people. See them at http://www.creducation.org/cre/crday/games/

So, best wishes for a happy Conflict Resolution Day. Get involved and help build the momentum.

Sincerely,

Bill Warters”
